Allow me if I may
YAAFM series has always been funny, but I feel I must say something here in regards to this episode:
While I agree Michael Moore is a very partisan spin doctor, sometimes conflicted by truth, and sometimes hypocritical, he is anything BUT an America hater... the fact that America's freedom allows him to criticize the government is what makes me, a non-American foreigner, respect America, and make me believe that America is truly the great nation it's supposed to be. The only people who would think Michael Moore is slandering America with his views are insecure pseudo-patriots, narrow-minded sheeps, and closet bigots.
When you fight the devil, be a devil yourself. That's why when you are faced with shameless pro-War propaganda, you have to fight back with another propaganda of equal power. That's what Fahrenheit 911 is ultimately about - true patriotism. F-911 shows the love and devotion Moore has for America, and the neglected parts of its population, and those of other countries which are affected by the Bush Admin's shameless actions and policies. Since Americans, compared to most other developed nations, have the strongest tendencies for complacency and arrogance, it was actually wise for Moore to call Americans "ignorant, stupid and like sheeps". While his choice of words may be questionable, it was necessary, because the harshness of these words stick in your minds - telling you that complacency and arrogance is dangerous, and should have no place in a civilized world.
Non Americans do not hate America, they hate Bush, his admin's patronization and unreasonable war. If America doesn't start soon to learn the repercussions of its brazen actions in the world, it will be too late.
I'm sorry, Zipperfish, this time you lose. Michael Moore is NOT a "fucking moron", he should be your country's national treasure. I now leave you with these quotes to consider.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -Theodore Roosevelt
"Terrorism is the war of the poor, and war is the terrorism of the rich." -Sir Peter Alexander Ustinov
"Those who will give up freedom for security deserve neither freedom nor security." -Benjamin Franklin
